How should I deep clean my Willow containers?

A routine deep cleaning of your accessories can keep them performing at their best, and remove milk fat and soap residue from hard to reach places. This helps avoid errors and inaccuracies with milk volume.

Whenever a pump update is available, we strongly recommend updating to the newest version for the most up-to-date features and fixes for issues you may be experiencing. Make sure you have updated to the latest version of the Willow™ App in order to get access to new pump updates as they become available.

Here are our cleaning suggestions:

After each pumping/cleaning session, finish your rinsing practice with a firm stream of warm water directly from the faucet through the valve from the flextube™ side – rinse for at least 30 seconds.

  • Periodically, boil your parts just like you did when you initially received them.Note: Steam, UV & microwave sterilizers and/or sterilizer bags are not recommended.
  • Try a vinegar rinse
    • Mix one part white vinegar with two parts water (for example, ½ cup vinegar with 1 cup warm water). This will give you 1.5 cups of rinse, enough for 4 ounces per container with some left over.
    • Assemble your containers with Inserts, flextubes™ and, caps, and close the dial (#2, flip to finish position)
    • Fill each container with the vinegar rinse
    • Close your cap
    • With your cap facing downward, shake each container for a minimum of 2 minutes
    • Drain your container and disassemble all parts, turn your dial back to 1 (pumping position)
    • Scrub gently around the valve, rinse all parts under running water for at least 1 minute
    • Rinse the back side of your valve (where the flextube™ meets) under running water for an additional minute just like the drawing above
    • Allow to dry completely before us
